The River Eye running through Lower Slaughter.
Lower Slaughter is a delightful village centred on the River Eye. The village is
uncommercialised and the walk along the riverside is very peaceful. The Manor House
is now a smart Hotel. On the otherside of the river is another hotel, The Slaughters
Country Inn where lunch is served outside in the Summer. Wild Trout can be seen
swimming in the clear river waters. Walk down the village towards the Old Flour
Watermill and you can appreciate the pretty residential houses. The mill ceased
producing flour in the 1950’s. The power for the Mill was produced by the Waterwheel
in the river. Today there is a shop, cafe and museum in the Old Mill. The Cotswold
stone products outside the mill are produced by a local craftsman.
